ABS Problem.

My ranger has done this 3 times now, right as I come to a stop from a slow speed the ABS unit activates- peddle pulses, etc. It did it 2 times in a row today from about 10-20mph. Also, the ABS light comes on and off at will, no pattern to it. Sometimes first thing in the morning some days it never comes on or it never goes off.

Any guesses? I'm assuming one of the sensors is going bad? Any trouble shooting tips.

Go to autozone or some place like that and have them pull the codes (should have a history code even if the light is off), that will pinpoint which of the 3 sensors is acting up. I'm pretty sure all rangers only have 3 channel ABS, I know mine does. Next step pull the sensor out and see if it's caked in metallic shavings (that will throw them off, they work off magnetism), clean it off, or just replace it with a new one. If your truck is 4 wheel drive and it's one of the front sensors causing it, I'd just replace the hub assembly, it comes with a new sensor.

Thanks. I'll borrow a code reader from a buddy and check the codes.
