disabling pats

I've read a few threads about this, talked to shane a little..

I want to disable my PATS system, don't go off on me saying its a bad idea blah blah blah.. I don't care.

The truck is a toy now, nothing more. I want to be able to make a few copies of my key to leave at home and in my tow rig incase i lose one, if im riding with someone else and lose it or hell I know people who forget and leave their keys at home.. I want to avoid that.

I really don't want to spend any money on this. I know you can disable it with a tuner but thats way more money than this truck deserves. I could glue/zip tie a key to the lock cylinder but thats still asking for problems, that and the dash is coming out including all the plastic around the column.

We do have a ford factory scanner at work so I'm gonna ask around tomorrow and see if i can use that to disable it.

any suggestions?

Hmmm....I wonder if you can run a '98 PCM for a 4.0L 5spd manual 4x4?? Plug it in, no PATS BS, and it MIGHT work...

You don't even need to flash it to your vin#.

Once you do eliminate it, why not take out the ignition period? Run a push button start?

i must be so behind. so i take it your keeping the truck as a toy? good choice man. i always liked your truck.. i mean it may not be very aesthetically pleasing, but you beat on it and it still comes back for more, plus you built the truck yourself. mad props man

Hahaha, thats exactly what I would do. Thats why you wire in a kill switch under the dash. When I had my WR400 dual sport thats what I did cause there was no key.

its more cause i couldn't sell it for what i wanted.

but yea, i like it and would have beat myself up if it went.. I'm still willing to let it go if someone is willing to pay, but its not looking that way. I drove it the other day before i took it off the insurance and really missed driving it haha

It was funny tho, just one tire, he came out of the bar and said "What the ****, those lazy bastards could only steal ONE?
