So, the little retainer nut broke on the original trying to twist it out. I installed a new switch and had pretty much the same situation with the added joy of a broken part. I went to a wrecking yard after work today and picked up and old assembly. The retainer on it broke also.... joy. I wasted 6 dollars in gas and 15 for a part that did me no good. I have 3 switched total and all 3 have the same result of....

1st notch = nothing
1st notch plus .5 = park lights and dash lights
2nd notch = headlights but no park lights or dash lights

The connector plug is not in the best shape. It has some small cracks here and there but the recepticles seem to have enough tension that everything connects.

I'm starting to wonder if this things is cursed.
