Ranger Problems 4R44E

I have a 2000 ford ranger, 4cyl, 2WD, with an automatic trans.

One day the Reverse started slipping really bad as I pulled out of the driveway and would hardly move. I put it in drive and it slips and does not move. If I turn overdrive off it engages fine and shifts perfect. It throws no codes/ no check engine light. Trans fluid level is good and no unusual noises.

I checked all of my fuses and wire connections. OHMed out all of the Solenoids (all SAT). I found no metal in the pan. Put in new torque converter, new clutches and bands, rebuilt servos, rebuilt pump, and new valve body gaskets. Checked everything for binding and cleanliness, its all good. Put everything back together and it has the same problem. No overdrive or reverse...

I don't know what else to do no besides start replacing solenoids even though they OHMed fine, or the transmission range sensor, the TSS, the PCM, TP, I don't know.. Wouldn't it throw a code?

If anyone has seen this issue or could offer some advise on what to check out next it would be most appreciated. Might have to break down and take it to a shop.

Thanks,
Defeated Ranger Owner
