rear brake hose fitting size?
 

i need to know what the thread is on the rear flex hose fitting to the hard line. i need an extension for the rear line, and i dont wanna guess.

is it possible to use another line to extend the one that is there without replacing it?

its a 2008, 3.0l, 4x2, w/ 8.8 rear axle w/ 10" drums

3/16th tubing inverted flare. Pretty common. You can unbolt the T on top of your diff to get extra travel....that is wut the superlift and RCD guys do.

If that's the case then it's about the most common brake line size/fitting it is. It's 3/8-24 thread if that's what you need instead of tubing size.

Perfect thanks I wasn't sure if it would have been metric or not, I need quite a bit of extra travel in the flex line so I'm going to try and find a length of line to use

Well the T to each side of the axle is built into the flex line, so you'll need a new one of those.

Yea I saw that but I'm told I can get a braided extension with male/female fittings to just add to the length of existing line between the top of the flex and hard line fitting. If it's just 3/8-24 then a length of line and the proper adapters is all I need

i went with an 'Allstar' line and 'Russel' fittings. the line is a #3 hose, and my fittings are 3/8-24 to adapt a length between the ranger rubber flex line and the hard line under the bed. i should get an effortless amount of travel with the length i went with..

i also went and picked up a couple #4 30" front extensions for the sas. can someone tell me what the threads are on the front hard lines? they are defeniately different then the rear fittings..

lol wut? The fittings are all 3/16 inverted flare. THey are the same as the rear.

ill need to take a closer look at that, i tried to check the fitting sizes from under the hood at the junction box, i can barely measure the threads exposed from the box but what i saw was the left and right were two different threads and sizes compared to the rear line. but i could most likely be wrong, maybe some how i followed the wrong lines..? ill check again tomorrow

They should be just reg 3/16 again as mentioned above. They always use different fittings at the master and ABS unit but I'm not sure why. Maybe to keep the average person from messing around with it if they don't have to proper fittings? But you should be good to go with something similar to what you did on the back.

Oh yeah on the ABS unit and MC i'm pretty sure they are a weird metric size. BUt down by your wheels where the hardline adapts to soft, its the same size.
