Is what it is light came on on way home. I recently bought a MaxiDiagpro MD801 computer scanner. I got it home but when I go to plug it in the place where I thought was the was to big for the scanner. The product says it's covered to do fords. The spot I am looking is under the steering wheel just right of the parking brake release. Is there another spot where they are or is the plug in really that crappy little plastic thing with a couple pins in the holes?

 

Sorry forgot to mention it is a 1998 Ford ranger XLT. 2.5 auto

 

The obdii port is a standard size across all makes and models as long as you have OBD II cable and adapter for that scanner it will plug right in. It only fits one way.

 

Maybe I'm looking at the wrong part because the scanner is a OBD ll cable. ?

 

Cable comes with the scanner, unless you got it used it might not.

 

Ok That's the same thing I've been looking at and it is not standard size then. Because my obd ll scanner doesn't fit into it and it is standard size.

 

Sounds like it has the wrong cable, not sure what you got.

 

Nope the scanner works fine tested it out in a mitsubishi lancer 2001 no problems.

 

That's what my 08 looks like, post a pic of your diagnostic tool. Maybe it's specific to mitsubishi's.

 

Well the port isn't 72 pins, and do you have the adapter on the end of this cable?

 

Yeah turns out it wasn't compatable with fords though it said it was -.-
