Icon4 Relay Box

Okay, so I have a 2000 ford ranger 4x4 supercab, w/all power options. There is a relay box under the dash on the drivers side with about 8 relays in it. Im wondering if anyone has a diagram that would tell me which relay is which. I've searched the forums, ford websites and googled it with no luck. Any help would be appreciated.

The top one is the flasher/hazzard relay. It's either going to be black or blue. My stocker was black but my replacement was blue. Couldn't tell you what the other are.

The only thing I can suggest is getting the electrical service manual from Ebay. Theres a bunch of them on there. I think most years, the Ranger had 2 manuals, one is general systems and one is electrical. They have all the wiring diagrams and schematics.

I know for the 01-03 the work shop manual was in 2 volumes and the wiring manual was a separate volume itself. 04+ its 1 book for workshop manual and 1 book for wiring manual.

I have access to a ford website with full wiring diagrams but they don't say which relay is what. Im trying to find the electric shift relay for my 4x4. I was told it was under the dash but Im not sure which of the 8 relays it is.

Not for the relay box Under the dash. You have to look upward under the dash towards the middle of the dash to find this box.

There's the 2 flasher relays up there and who knows what else. Another fine example of why im starting to hate ford engineers.

DG/LG wire should lead directly to it.

I can send you schematics, PM me your e-mail addy.

That relay engages the clutch in the Txfr case.

Ready to send....

Frankly,, it'd be simpler to just take the connector off the shift motor and read 12v on the BR wire in 4Hi, key to Run. If you have it, that relay is good.

Im not getting power to the T-Case motor or 4x4 switch at all. Im getting power to a control box behind the radio, not the GEM. Im not sure if the GEM is getting power. There is another relay I am trying to locate that goes either to the GEM or its between the GEM and Switch. Im not sure if this relay is bad or if the GEM is bad. I got quoted $220 for a GEM so Im gonna try and find the relay and either test or replace it because its alot cheaper.

Well, I looked all through the vehicle and I don't have a 4x4 control module. That started in 2001. Has anybody had any problmes with there GEM modules going bad, 2000 and earlier the 4x4 worked through the GEM module. Dealer wants $220 for it so Im trying to make dam sure this is the problem. Theres also another module behind the dash, Part #YL24-10D840-AB. Im not sure what the module does, If any ford techs can find out that would be awesome. Thanks

Wow, searching only works when ppl actually answer the questions asked!!!

Here's a ZOMBIE thread revival!!

Anyone know what relay does what or have any details on the 8 relay box under the dash? I know the flasher/hazzard relay is on the top and is also the largest relay there. There are 3 more relays with a few spots they can go into. Only reason I'm asking is because my dad started pulling the smaller relays out and wasn't sure on where they went back in.

The wipers and signal lights were giving him grief and he started to hunt for possible burnt relays.......long story short. Some how he corrected the issue, but now lost the fog lights. Weird, I know. So I'm thinking he just has a relay in the wrong slot. This is just another reason why "if you don't know, don't touch"......LOL

So all I'm asking for is the 8 relay box slot identification. Thanks in advance!!!

Bob, I've said it before and I'll say it again................................YOU ARE THE MAN!!!

Thanks!!

Guess those fogs have nothing to do with those relays. Guess it's trouble shooting time for me. I'll have to get my hands on that Ranger for the weekend.

Dash lights not working

I have a 1996 Ford Ranger 4x4 and it’s dash lights are not working when I went to locate the fuse for it I couldn’t find a proper diagram. I am looking to get help to fix the problem as it’s very hard to drive at night. I have also looked into the dimmer switch as when I open my door the interior light doesn’t turn on. I’m wondering if the interior light doesn’t turn on because I don’t have power locks or mirrors?

You need to start your own thread for your problem, this one is for a problem with not shifting into 4X4

Turn signal relay?

I have lost power to my 4x4, my turn signal, wiper blades, my interior lights, radio and my windows. I figured it was the GEM module which I'm waiting to recieve but nothing I've read says anything about the turn signals going bad because of the GEM module. Fuse is good, hazards work so o k ow it's not the bulbs or wiring. The hazard flasher is under the dash separate from the 8 relays in the black box under the dash. Is it possible the turn signal flasher is one of the small relays in there and if so which one?!
UPDATE: I have replaced the GEM module and the interior light work now but will not shut off and now my wipers stay on all the time!!!! What am I doing wrong here?
