OHC Temp Way Off

Was driving today and the temp went to -40 degrees. Anyone have an idea? Maybe the sensor is messed up? I've had it in there for 3 years with no problem.

yeah, when the sensor goes back, it goes to -40. might double check your connections and make sure they are still good to the sensor.

I figure tomorrow I'll look under the truck and see if its all still connected. It got dark when I got back with something for the Ranger so it will have to wait till tomorrow.

I am also having the same problem except mine has read 140F for the last month and it doesn't change at all. It started happening about a week after my last wheeling trip. I have checked all connections and they all are good. Do you think it could have shorted out or something?

Mine did this a few times (going to -40). But then after I turn off the truck and start it later, it fixes itself.

This was a month ago and it hasn't happened since

x2 on the sensors---when you go to the JY, pick up a couple of extras like i did when mine went bad.

Mine just did this again yesterday (-40). If the sensor was bad wouldn't it do it all the time?

It wouldn't hurt to have an extra sensor though

Spend the 20 bucks and get a new sensor.

its a conection with the sensor depending on which wire it is it can be either -40 or 140

the temp getting stuck at a random temp sounds more like a bad sensor than anything. go to the yard and pocket a new one.

Haha, ours has a fee also but we get in free since they put free coupons in the phone books around here so we go around and get them out.

Figured out my problem. Had a wire off at the firewall. Don't know how that happened.
