Engine Flush Question - Run at Fast Idle?

I gotthe Amsoil Engine Flush and it says to put in engine and run at fast idle for 15-20 minutes. Does that mean to give it alittle gas or just let it idle by itself.

yes i would imagine prolly nothing over 1200-1500 rpm

^^^^^^ Yea that is what I just ended up doing truck runs great now with the amsoil.

DO NOT DO AN ENGINE FLUSH!!!

Every single car that has come to work for an engine flush comes back 5-10000 miles later with valve noise! All the carbon/buildup gets broken up in the engine and clogs the oil pump pick-up. Therefore decreasing flow of oil to the rest of the motor. I hope i posted this in time.

BTW for reference, i am a Tech at a local dodge dealer so i'm not talking out my ass.

Well i just read that you already did it...sorry i posted too late.

It seems like it is running much better than before.

then how would you change over to synthetic oil???

SoundPer4mance 08-16-2005 08:14 PM

you dont HAVE to flush to change, but if there is buildup that could potentially damage the engine, then there is ALREADY a problem that needs to be fixed. using the flush will not CREATE this problem, rather allow it to occur sooner than it would. even then you would need a LOT of buildup to be solid enough to stay solid in the engine and clog the oil pickup. that much buildup would need to be addressed at any rate.

with regular oil changes and motorcraft oil you should never need to flush your engine!

i personaly would never pour anything other then motorcraft 5w20 in my engine!!!!!!!

can you say "snake oil"

TheManInBlack 08-17-2005 05:03 PM
