I FREAKIN HATE My DAMNED Efan!!!!! Help!!!
Hi.
All this damn efan has been is trouble. First I didn't get the correct fuse tap...so I had to go around town like a madman to try and find the correct one for those damn mini-mini fuses.
Alright....everything is wired correctly, the way it was is the directions that came from jusnes, as well as buzzair's mod thread. I have yet to wire in the a/c clutch wire deal....as I will be tieing into the hvac unit on the dash.
Here's what it's doing..........KEEPS BLOWING FUSES!!!! I've got good grounds, used quality connectors, used quality wire, routed carefully, etc.....I did my shiznit right. She worked off and on, in between blowing fuses. The fuse that blows is the power from the fan to the control box. It blew four 25A, then three 30A, then It started to really **** me off, so I threw in a 40A......but still didn't work.....It didn't blow the 40.......ended up frying my relay. So go out, try and find a 40-50a relay(what came with the unit) and no luck.....resorted to a 30a relay along with a 25a fuse......STILL NOTHING!!!!!
So how it's down to the fan itself. I just added some leads and put'em on the battery........the fan turns WAY too slow now.
HEEEELLLLPPPP!!!!
I'm an 1/8" away from throwing on that mechanical fan and seriously telling that damn efan what I think of it using my foot and the steeltoe boots....followed by taking it to work and letting a 18,000lb pipe roll across it.
Either that or start over with all new parts.
Help guys.
I even went out and bought a better fan.
Your Frustrated(kinda pissed) R-F'r,
Shane

if i remember correctly, there shouldn't be a fuse in the orange wire from the controller to the fan......
yes i am correct....
remove the fuse in the orange wire from the controller to the efan......that is your problem......the start up current draw is more than any fuse you can put in there.....it is not needed......the only fused wires you need is from the battery to the controller and the switched 12v that you ran in the cab.....
so you really didn't follow his instructions to a "T" did ya
yes i am correct....

Electrically I haven't had problems with my efan, but mount-wise I need to go back and rework it. I'm not happy with the tiedowns breaking all the time (luckily I wired it on) and the flimsy nature of the beast. It hasn't failed me fortunately. I have Griggs' controller for it, but I need a copy of the Jusnes installation instructions for the old controller to help me figure out how to rewire the one system, change my switch, and go with the new controller. i think the e-fan sucks, we put mine on a week or so ago and its coming off tommorow, it doesnt cool my engine for **** when im offroad, if i take it over 2k rpm's i have to turn my truck off and let it cool down cuz it gets too hott, it would probably cool it a little better if i mounted it in the stock shroud but its not worth the hassle, for the extra 1.5 mpg its not worth it to me, mechanical fan here i come!

how does the temp sensor factor in?

I have 2 fuses......the one I guess i'm supposed to cut out, and one at the battery. The one at between the fan and the controller deal is the one that keeps blowing.
I'm going to cut out that fuse, wire it back up, try it out....and see what happens. I'm not even going to worry about installing my new fan I bought yesterday.....keep it for the chevy.
Hey....Anyone know where I can get a new(used) fan shroud??? You see.....my hands are just too dang big to figet with the autozone tools and the shroud at hte same time.......
