expo mirror

ok i searched but didnt find a straight answer...if i want the auto dimming mirror with out the auto heads is all i need to do is run the wire from the mirror to the switched, constant and ground on the dome light? also if that is correct y do u need the switched?

also u no how chevys have the compass and temp in the mirror. any body know if that would be easier to swap in that an ohc...like is the temp sensor right on the mirror or any thing like that?

thanks.

for just the auto-dimming function and no auto-headlights, you only need switched (accessory) power and ground. the constant power line is for the auto-headlight function.

so does it only dim when the interior light is on..im confused. the dimming is when lights from the background shine in it isn't it? and the switched only has power when the light is on....please explain

you need ground.

you need accessory-switched power. not dome light power, not door switch power.

when the truck is on, you'll have power to the mirror.

there are two sensors in the mirror, one on the front (facing the front of the truck) and one on the mirror face (facing the back of the truck); when more light is sensed rearward than forward and the truck is running or the key is in the "ACC" position, the mirror dims.

I used both power wires and the ground when I wired mine up. It works!
