setting up my ingition to run off a switch instead of the key

before anyone yells at me, i dont want to be able to START the truct with a switch, but merely turn on the 'accesorie' portion of the ignition, via a switch, so i flip this switch, and its like i put the key in and turn it back, only it works WITH OUT the key. any ideas on how to do this?

well you would have to deal with the PATS system... which needs the key

Possibly not... although I would seriously double check that it couldn't backfeed and fry something, jumpering the battery to the main accessory power terminal would do the trick. (Does PATS pull the accessory bus(es) to ground when the vehicle is off?) You'd need one heck of a relay to do it (a starter solenoid may work well to handle that amperage).

You could approach it like a remote starter:

Using a PATS bypass from DIRECTED ELECTRONICS .

You would have to devise a way bypass inserting the key into the lock during the activation phase of the alarm.

Or you could try this:

To the eBay! (Push Button Starter) (Could be a gimmick!)
