Spare Tire Carrier

sorry if i put this in the wrong spot but has anyone ever taken off their OE spare tire carrier? I know it has to be possible. just need to know if grinding down those rivets will do it... any thoughts/pictures???

thanks,
Jacob

I think you need it, its like a cross member for the frame if I remember correctly. You could cut it out and then replace it with some tube.

i just took the tire off and wound the cable all the way up to the bottom of the bed for clearance. kept smacking the spare on the ground at my inlaws property, spare is no good with holes in it.

well my spare is too big anyway. its just getting in the way of how im making my rear bumper....was wondering if i was able to take it off...

like said before, the spare tire carrier is a vital crossmember so youre not going to want to take it out unless you replace it with something just as strong
