Icon5 Things that make the REAR ANTILOCK and BRAKE light turn on?

I didn't find a special section for things like brakes , I hope this subject fits OK in here.

My question is, what would make the yellow REAR ANTILOCK light and the BRAKE light turn on?

I have those lights on all the time, my braking is still very good. Could it be the sensor that is placed on top of the differencial (speed sensor??), the brake fluid is at level, could it be worn out brakes on the back.. or how about the front?

Any ideas on this?

well the pads being worn brings down the fluid level. and the fluid level will set it off. the vss in the diff can set it off. also if the comp senses any out of the ordinary things. it can go into Limp mode. Enough to get to the dealership with out causing catastrophic failure to a module. or a vehicle. think of it as a back up programing.

Your master cylinder reservoir has max and min levels marked on it but the lights can come on when the level is still well above the minimum line. Try topping the level up to the max line and see if that turns the lights off.

Keep in mind that a dropping brake fluid level generally means that the linings are wearing - this might be a good time to inspect the shoes and pads.

I had 2 bad ABS sensors in my mustang and it threw a light along with messing up my brakes. Just my guess.

Thanks for your suggestions!!
Well I changed the sensor on top of the differential, I topped the fluid level in the reservoir and cleaned the connector inside and out and the RABS light still comes on.

Next thing would be to inspect any other connections... from the reservoir connector, the next connector following the wire would be at the RABS module?

I haven't checked how the worn the rear breakes are though.

Time to stop guessing while wasting time and money. Go to a dealer and get the ABS trouble code read.

ABS Speed sensor full of crud...... Check that after checking your fluid level. Slap an ohm meter on it and check for resistance.
