Sport Trac Cluster indicator lights

..Awhile back I installed a '01 Sport Trac inst. cluster in my '96 Ranger....well heres the problem,I sold the truck and not paying any attention the indicator lights being in a different position, and in this county in Ohio I live in has emissions testing......guess what, they failed the truck because the check engine light did not light up on the test, instead another indicator lamp lit up......any suggestions on what to switch/change,I did a search and really couldn't find anything.................thanks for any ideas or help

I'd figure that if all the harnesses were correct when you swapped them, then it should be o.k. Since it's not, maybe the 01 cluster wasn't compatible with your 96. Did you have any problems with the swap or was it a "plug-and-play" deal?

Going to have to agree with Nathan though, if you can't find the problem, swap the gauges back.

*EDIT*

After re-reading your OP, you said you sold the truck. Do you currently have the truck or is this a request from the new owner?

the truck is with the new owner, and yeah it was just "plug n play" other than changing the temp gauge because it had a resister, bad thing is I sold the old cluster......sounds like I am "SOL".....
