2004 Gauge Cluster question

2004 Gauge Cluster question

I took my cluster out of my truck to replace a bulb..

you got 2 harnesses then bout by the shifter side there is a cable..whats that for? is that for the shifter..

i was thinking bout getting a new set..well different color which would be black..how do you unsnap that thing..

i can get pics if your lost but i think i explained it well enough

the cable is for the shift indicator.......

There should be some plastic clips that hold it in.....

yea but like if you buy one from a junkyard or what not..wnt they just clip that then what?

yes its the shift indicator.

Heres how to remove it:

Under the steering column theres a white clip that looks like this:



Take the red cable off the metal hook then unscrew the white clip and squeeze it between the steering column and something else. Its a ***** to get back in there so remember exactly what position it was in when you pulled it through.

Were you interested in getting a different cluster? I was just a the JY and say a silver sport trak cluster and a white ranger cluster. Both from a 05.

well I already bought another set for 10 bucks black faced gauges..

and didnt know bout that part..

since this one was cut, and mine is still good i dunno what im gunna do..

umm....

it should un-clip from the cluster...

theres two little tabs you squeeze, then you pull it out...
