Hi guys!

Does anyone know what is the function and purpose of this spring in the steering mechanism?

It's the part 3B768 on the following exploded view:




And the spring are located under levers circled in the following picture:

Welcome to the forum

It says the levers the springs are on are for Tilt Steering column, so I image that they are used to Hold/Lock the Tilt in place unless driver press down the handle to tilt the wheel

The link you provided calls them "Springs Steering Column Position Lock"


Going by the information YOU posted, Ron is guessing they are for the "Tilt Steering Lock"
