Steering Problem

Alright, my truck is now making noise when i turn the steering wheel. I don't think it is the rack and pinion, and really hate steering stuff. Anyone know what may be making the whining noise get worse. It loses steering fluid slowly. My father thinks the seals in the steering pump are going bad. Any help would be GREAT!

the noise is from the sway bar on the front take off the mounts and there is a C shaped bushing in there. take it out and put wheel bearing grease on the inside. re-assemble and its good for 8-12 months. i have had the same problem. as for the leak just check all your hoses and make sure there is no cracks or splits on the line since its a pressurized system. hope this helps

Mine leaks like a sieve. Have to constantly refill the steering reservoir. I'd check that and make sure it topped off. Mine only makes noise when i'm actually moving the steering wheel and at very low speeds (at least that is when i can hear it).

It would be a plausible idea to try if I still had my swaybar attached lol.

hows the fluid level? they will whine when they get low. do you know where it is leaking from? is it from the pump?

Mine makes a pretty good whining noise ever since I went with the 35s. My fluid doesn't leak and its not low. It just likes to talk to me I guess.

I top off the fluid once a week. And yes they really whine when they get low. I have no clue where the leak is, anyone have any ways of checking it.

Its not making that kind of whine, but very plausible idea!

Sounds like the pump is going bad. My Mustang makes that noise and it does'nt even leak fluid. I asked my instructor about it in my Steering and Suspension class and he said it's just junk.
