Successful Gauge Transplant 00 -> 97
Successful Gauge Transplant 00 -> 97
My '97 with 5-speed had the standard, non-tach gauge set with a busted odometer. So, I went to the junkyard yesterday and pulled a gauge set with a tach from a 2000 Ranger that came in via "Cash for Clunkers".
After doing the swap, I've now got a working odometer again, all the other gauges work as well as the old ones and the tach works fine. You gotta love the newer technology - everything's electronic and plug-n-play!
One small glitch: the FUEL RESET light was on in the new panel. Since the truck shouldn't be running at all if that light is on, I pulled the bulb so I wouldn't be annoyed by it.
