Hello, I have a 99 4.0l v6 automatic and my truck is stuck in gear and won't go in park the shifter has a lot of slop and play in it. How do I fix this?

 

Tighten the t-25 torx screws at the end of the shifter shaft,put your head by your brake pedal and look up you will see them.Also there is a plastic wheel you can fine tune the slop with and that is behind the plastic and metal trim panel underneath the steering wheel.

my explorer had the torx bolt come loose under the dash at the end of the shifter. scared the hell out of me when the truck started rolling out of the parking lot.
