sulfer smell and new cam sensor

ok so earlier today i replaced my spark plugs and my camshaft position sensor because i got a code for it. i used motor craft platinum plugs and gaped them to .044. i disconnected the battery while doing this. i hooked the batt back up and started it and now i have a load clicking noise that sounds like its coming from the catalytic converter and a sulfur smell from the engine compartment. also it was shaking a lot when i first started it but after driving it has seemed to stop. also i have my IAC unplugged because i like the way it runs better with out it and that always throws a code immediately and for some reason the check engine light is not on. also when i got the part for my truck (1998 3.0) it was the wrong one but they found out that the sensor for a 1999 3.0 flex fuel was the right one...(at least it looked right) so that could be the problem? idk.
