I have a 5speed 2000 2wd ranger with a 3.0 in it, and my buddy has a transmission for an 2003 2wd ranger 4cyl, are the bell housings the same to where I can just swap them out?

Manual or automatic?

Not that it matters much, no, 3.0l Vulcan engine and 2.3l Duratec do not have matching bellhousing bolt patterns

M5OD-R1 manuals do not have detachable bellhousings

Automatic bellhousings do come off, but requires partial rebuild as the rear of bellhousing is the front case of the Main Pump inside the trans.
