SWR tuning

For all you CB buffs, Is there a way to tune the antenna on my CB radio with my digital multimeter instead of a SWR meter?

Sad_Savant 12-09-2006 07:22 AM

not that i'm aware of...i'm pretty sure you need an RF meter

no problem....what's the hang up with using the SWR meter?

EricTodd 12-09-2006 07:53 AM

no hang up, I just don't want to buy one. And I already have a good DMM so I thought I could use it.

What kind of CB do you have?

Alot of the trucker radios you can set the meter to SWR and key the mic and adjust the knobs as needed.......otherwise go to a CB shop and they will do it for free / 5$

I live in central NJ no such thing as a "CB shop" around here. I have a crappy 40 channel radio shack model CB.

I'm not sure where at in NJ you are, but look for a TA truck stop. I know of one on Exit 18 off RT-295. They will do it for you. There may be a slight charge, but it's still cheaper than the $25 meter. Maybe give them a call 1st, before making the trip.

Bordentown off TPK 7 or off 130. 206 & 295
Might be the homeland of the original truck stop

Hi, do you know of any Ham Radio operators/friends? They would be able to help.
