Tail Lights and Horn Not Working
Tail Lights and Horn Not Working
I have a 1997 Ranger, several nights ago I used the remote to unlock the doors and accidentally hit the "Panic" button. Horn went off and headlights, tail lights and dash lights were flashing. I got in, started the truck and the panic status was ended. Problem is now the horn does not work and I have no tail lights. I have checked the fuses, nothing is blown, and when I hit the horn I can hear the relay click. I have brake lights, headlights, turn signals. Any suggestions?
Thanks!
Thanks!
You can try resetting the anti-theft system by unhooking the battery for 5min, then hooking it back up, the theft module may be preventing those relays for working fully, it uses the parking lights and horn, not just in panic but when you lock and unlock
Fuse 3(15amp) in the cab fuse box does the Parking lights, and the manual control of Dome light via dimmer switch, so see if you can turn on the dome light manually with dimmer
You check fuses with an OHM meter, "it looks OK" is fine, its your time not mine, lol
There is a Parking Light Relay just above the gas pedal in the cab
You should hear it click when you turn on main light switch
If you don't hear it then main light switch could be the issue
Fuse 4 in the engine bay is the horn fuse in 1996 not sure in 1997

I got the horn working, disconnected wires to horn, reconnected after I found voltage in wires and it worked.
Tail lights are another issue. I do not pick up any voltage in wire at the lights. Fuses are good. I found the relays near the gas pedal, does anyone have a drawing showing what each relay is for?
Thanks!

If only the tail lights are effected but the front Parking lights work then its for sure not the relay, its an all or nothing relay, it was added to "flash the parking lights" for keyless entry or alarm function
No, haven't seen one for Rangers that was 100% accurate by year, but there are a few diagrams out there to look at
Google: Ford Ranger Relay box 1 diagram
This is suppose to be for 2003 Ranger: https://ww2.justanswer.com/uploads/b...3_Capture1.PNG
