Test Passenger Window Switch

My passenger window will roll up or down from the drivers side switch but will only roll down from the passenger side switch. How do I test my switch to see if it is broken?

Thanks,

Marc

My truck did not have power windows before. I added all of the wiring myself and am now second guessing it was wired correctly. That is why I would like to know how to test the switch. Does anyone know how to do this? The center pin is connected to fused 12v from the battery that is switched on with ignition. The outer 4 pins appear to be grounded until either the drivers side or passengers side switch is activated. When the switch is pressed either up or down there should be 0 resistance between the corresponding pin and the center pin correct? When I press down the resistance goes to 0. When I press up the resistance decreases but does not go all the way to 0. Is this a sign of a bad switch or can I take the switch apart and clean it?

Thanks,

Marc

I have the SAME damn problem. Passenger side switch will roll down but not up. Drive side works fine.

I took the switch apart and tried to clean it, didn't do anything. I figure it must me a wire loose somewhere in the door. Because when I roll it up from the drivers side, it works fine, but it you hit up on the passenger side the window stops until you stop depressing it....

I figured it out. The contacts were really dirty and pitted. To fix it you simply need to take apart the switch and clean the contacts (circled in red in the third pic) with emery cloth. If they are really pitted you could fill the pits with solder.

Your switch is most likely dirty. It is not your wiring. If your wiring was faulty it would not work from the drivers side either.

^^^ I'm wiring the locks tonight. I will look at the wiring diagrams and see if I can figure out what is wrong with your truck.
