Ticking noise at low speeds, lots of noise in general
 

Well it started about a week ago and has been getting worse. When I drive slow (20-25 mph), I can hear a fast ticking that definitely coincides with how fast the wheels are turning. Also, it seems like I'm hearing/feeling more noise as I hit bumps. I've checked the front calipers and they're both tight. My rear brakes were done less then 7,000 miles ago, but I have not pulled them apart yet. Anyone have any ideas on where I should start looking? I don't have anywhere to really pull it apart at this point... it's sitting in a parking lot (either at the apartment or at work) 99% of the time it's off, and I can't afford to take it in at this point. I'm worried something may break if it keeps up.

it's a rock in your tread. happens to me all the time. other than that....no clue. are you 4x4 or 2wd??

Rock is probably the answer if you haven't check it out yet. Else, I'm pretty sure I remember reading something about a clicking problem from somebody else on this site, saying that it went progressively depending on their speed. There was a vid too, the dude had filmed the clicking noise. Anyone remember what thread?

I also sometimes get a loud CLUNK when I first hit the brakes. Loud enough that I feel it in my feet.

The problem continues to get worse as far as rattling when I hit rough roads and the clunk when I hit my brakes. It's not the calipers... not sure if it could be the drums... ?

Here's hoping that it will stay together until I can save up the $ to get it in and get it looked at, because I'm just about clueless and helpless at this point.

Is the clunk from the front or the rear?

Fronts could be ball joints or control arm bushings. Rear could be brakes, or loose suspension mounts.

I also have a new symptom... light squealing (metal on metal sounding) when I turn right. VERY faint but I can hear it if I'm next to a concrete median.

I'd suspect that a wheel bearing is going out. The wheel is now more loose and allowed to slightly tilt when going around the corner. That tilt may be allowing the brake arm/calipar to touch the rotor as it's turning.

I've seen this happen before. Drove me nuts til I figured it out. Was just simply a loose bearing.

Replaced the bearings this weekend, as well as the passenger side rotor (which had been marked up after a certain someone managed to install a brakepad backwards and drive 5 miles on it :smashfrea ). Noises are gone now and it drives SO much better. The driver side bearing gasket had fused to the rotor (had to take a chisel to it to get it off of there) and the passenger side bearing was so bad that it required a bit of effort to turn the rotor even with the caliper off.
