While rebuilding my 94 4.0, I noticed a groove around both coolant ports on the inner surface of the timing cover. I used rtv sealantall the way around the ports, but didn't fill the grooves. I've been told it will leak. Does anyone have an insight?

 

Been a few years, but just RTV(sealant) seems to be lasting on my 1994 4.0l OHV, but wasn't leaking before, put in a new tensioner
