Flip Keys?

So i have a 97 XLT with no power locks, doors, windows, anything. I might put in the locks and windows when i get the cash, but it'd be a couple months. I really want one of those flip out (switchblade like) keys that VW's have. They just look cool. Does anyone know of a cheap one that would work with my key? It doesn't have to have the buttons for locking and unlocking, but if it does it doesn't really matter since that is a project on my list. So does anyone have any experience with these or know of a good place to find one? And once I get it could I just take it down to where I normally get keys copied and have them do it? Or something else? Thanks in advance if you know anything!

Well I guess if you could find one with the correct key blank and want to tape a spare OEM key inside the column next to the ignition cylinder it might work.

I don't think his 97 has PATS does it? There have been a member or two that took a fusion key/fob and cut the plastic trim out of the column since its wider then a ranger key.

If you really want a switchblade, go to the vortex, look under the mk2 section and you should find threads of people who took those mk4 fobs and drilled out the dowel, cut a mk2 key and drilled a hole into it making it fit into the mk4 fob.

You're correct, looks like around 1998-1999 is when they started putting PATs in Rangers

You can get them on eBay, but a word of warning--it WILL NOT fit in your ignition-the remote body is too big to clear the "shroud" of the ignition cylinder. I just sent one back a couple of weeks ago.
