tow hitch lights

tow hitch lights

my ranger has the tow bar out back along with the wires..but my signals and my brake lights dont work on my trailer...the lights work but just not the signals and brakes...anyone know if its because of some relays?? if so point me in the right direction..thanks in advance

check your ground on the trailer i had thi happen to me
when i hit the brake they work but with running lights on hit the brake they go off hit the turn signal the opposite side blink i was very confused and didnt know where to start luckily it was just the ground on the trailer

Get one of those tester things. Alon has one. It just plugs into wiring and it lights up when you use the lights. The wiring on the trailer might be bad.

its not that hard just check all of the grounds on the trailer frame there is probably rust on there and if its not the ground there may be a loose connection in the lights or worst case cenario is a short in the system

so i cant figure it out..u think i should make my own harness for the tail lights and turn signals and run the wires to the rear lights?

i frogot how old the trailer was you told me. you might as well rewire the brake lights. its cheep insurance down the road that you will be less likley to have tail light issues.
