Towing...

What are our trucks capable of towing ? I was thinking about putting in a tow package so that I could tow small trailers/uhauls, ect, ect but can remember in the past having my truck struggle to move a couch..

What can our 4 bangers handle without destroying them ?

Dont worry my 86 ranger has pulled numerous things. my uncle towed a full mobile home trailer with the front wheels hopping off the ground. ive towed my rx7 around on hour trips with no problem. if you start towing i would upgrade the brakes for sure.

I would say you could tow at least 10,000lbs. Shoot FMD a PM, I think that he knows a mechanic that can hook you up with what you need to get it done.

Around 1700 #'s w/ a 5 spd. w/ 3.73's , 2200 #'s with an auto for an '04 w 4.10's
I've never run into a problem towing up to 2000#'s with my 5spd, just leave room and brake early.
Max tongue weight on the bumper hitch is 200#'s anyway.
Gotta say, really appreciate having the 4 wire harness stock. Toyota wants almost $250 for the wiring.

Like i said i have no problem and ive towed way over 10000+ LBS. Mine is a worn down 300k mile 2.3l with a 5 speed. Stock rearend, tranny, and engine. Dont underestimate your rangers guys. I can understand why you wanna upgrade though. Ive tried everything to kill mine so i can rebuild it, and it just wont die.
