Truck not charging, new alternator. Halp =[

Ok guys, my truck died last night on the way to the store, had no power and the battery died, assumed it was the alternator, I went to the junkyard today and pulled an alternator off an 01 exploder, had it tested at the parts store and everything checked okay.

Just got done putting it on, everything plugged right up and bolted in place no problem, but, I just cranked the truck and put the volt meter on the battery, I have no charging going on, stays around 12 and slowly drops as it runs.

I have continuity from the alternator post to the battery, so the wire is good, I dont have my gauge cluster in, I dont know if it matters but does that have to be in for the alternator to charge for whatever reason?

I'm kind of at a loss here and need to fix this to get to work in the morning, any helps majorly appreciated =\

Ok, I tracked down the issue, all the fusible links were okay, no under hood or interior fuses were blown, I guess the light green/red wire that connects to the regulator, goes into the cab to the fuse spot #15 shown in my diagram as [charging warning indicator light] at the instrument cluster, gets power when the key is in start/run positions, I guess the cluster needs to be in place for it to function properly.

I cant verify it until morning since my cluster is at my shop but, live and learn I guess. I just made a fused jumper and connected it to an accessory relay I have for my air compressor so it gets power when the keys on to get me to work in the morning.
