3 months ago, I bought a 1994 4 cylinder 5 speed ranger xl as my first car. Aside from leaking some steering fluid, it ran great for about a month until it shut off while I was on a highway. Initially my dad and I figured it was the fuel pump/fuel pump relay, but the pump still turns on and the relay's still good (the previous owner mentioned that it blew a few relays before). He's since checked the timing belt to make sure it didn't break (and a couple other possible causes that he'll have to refresh me on later), and we aren't too sure where to go from there. What else could keep it from starting? Any and all advice would be extremely appreciated. I'm paying 180 a month to insure it and have been losing job opportunities, and with 210k miles on it, it seems junking it to save for something else might be my only option.

Edit: Also checked for tripped motion sensor, and are going to do a compression test when we find time

 

Double check the fuel cut off switch.

After that see if you have spark.
