Truck won't turn over

Hi y'all, i have a 98 Ranger, 4 cyl, 4x2. On my way to work today, my oil pressure gauge dropped, I had no acceleration and slowly coasted to a stop. It cranks but doesn't turn over. I have gas and recently changed my oil. Thoughts?

Welcome to the forum

Not alot to go on, engine quit when driving

Fuel pump failed maybe

Roll down window, turn on the key and listen, radio OFF
Each time you turn on the key the fuel pump will run for 2 seconds, only 2 seconds but EACH Time you turn the key from off to on

It is not quiet, you can hear the HUMMMM, in the cab

First test for a No Start is 50/50 test
Remove large air tube from the upper intake
Open throttle and spray gasoline or Quick Start(ether) into the intake
Try to start engine

If it starts and dies then fuel delivery is the problem, fuel pump, fuel filter, fuel injectors

If it doesn't start, then spark is the problem
50/50

On the 2.5l Rangers there is also the possibility that the timing belt broke, it is rubber and can break, engine will stall and not restart.
Try to peak behind timing belt cover to see if belt is there and moving when someone cranks engine

Sorry about the foggy description. I was driving and suddenly I couldn't accelerate and could even rev up the engine, battery needle dropped and so didn't oil pressure gauge. Pushing the gas pedal, and nothing happened. I coasted to a stop. I tried starting it again and she wouldn't turn over. I have plenty of gas and just changed my oil. Fuel filter hasn't been changed though.

Yes, it reads like engine stalled, which means alternator goes off(Volt needle drops), and oil pressure drops to 0

Listen for fuel pump
Check if timing belt is still there and moving

Then do 50/50 test to determine if it is spark or fuel issue

Dirty Fuel filter wouldn't cause full stall
