I have a fairly basic '05 Ranger XLT. So no PWR stuff. i have a power inverter temperarily wired into my 12v plug spot. The "cig lighter" plug on the inverter has been cut off, the + is plugged into a female connector that used to connect to the extra 12v. This power sorce is constant and drains the battery if I forget to turn the inverter off. I am planning on runninga wire thru the fire wall (any good ideas on that.. let me kno), and simply using a male plug to plug into the fuse box. I do not have an owners manual, or shop manual. Does anybody know which EMPTY fuse slot has power running thru the ignition? Or maybe someone could tell me the number of the slot that goes to the POWER WINDOWS that I do not have. If anyone has a simple way to do this please give me a hand. I am NOT opposed to keeping the job inside cab and out of the engine bay. THANK YOU!! OX

 

Little confusing trying to decipher your post, so bear with me. It sounds like you have a small inverter hard wired into your cigarette plug and you want to run it through an ignition hot circuit in your fuse panel. I'm sure you could probably find an empty slot in the fuse panel to use, but your best bet is running a fused power source directly from the battery. I'm not sure how many watts your inverter is, but the thin wire typically used for the fuse panel is not the best to run an inverter off of.

If you are looking for a much easier way, leave the inverter powered through the cigarette plug and use a relay that is signalled by the ignition switch to allow power to flow to the inverter. That way your not relying on the ignition for power, and you won't have as much wiring to do.
