Check the blower resistor block. It is a set of resistance coils that gets switched in different combinations to change the blower speed. In the highest speed, the switch bypasses all of the resistors. The elements get old/brittle/corroded and break, leaving you with a dead position or positions on the speed selector.

The Ranger resistor location is similar to this diagram. i would bet that a Taurus is similar also. Usually very easy to change - plug connector and 2 screws.

The block looks something like this GM part and costs $15~25.

What if??

So what if the blower dont turn on at all? and all fuses are in place. just started digging into this the other day and the ranger ate 2 tools tryin to take off the motor. I am going to check this resistor out but if that comes back ok what do you think, change the whole motor?

If the blower doesn't run at all, it is not the blower resistor.

I don't know if the blower motor connection is under the hood or in the interior on your Taurus. Ford uses both styles. If it's intermittient and under the hood, I might suspect the connector. If it's the blower resistor, I guess there is some small chance that the broken resistor elements are making contact sometimes.

Unless you drive a Dodge and they run the ground for the blower motor through the resistor on certain vehicles just to **** the techs off...
