Power window conversion

First post, long time Ford owner, 2nd Ranger.

I just bought all the necessary Ford parts to convert my truck to power windows locks & mirrors, including the factory wiring harnesses. I am using factory parts because I thought everything would plug in and be good to go, and I want it to look stock.

The one thing missing is the fuse holder in the fuse box under the hood. Since my Ranger did not come with power windows, there is no fuse in slot #4. I cannot add a fuse because only 1 side of the holder has the metal contacts, the other side does not = incomplete circuit.

Has anyone done a window conversion with factory parts and found a solution?

Can the stock fuse box or that module be upgraded?

Do I have to buy a fuse box for a truck that came with power windows?

By the way, each of you should be proud; Ranger Forums is full of great content and quality posts!

I thought of trying this on my ex, but the hassle was to great just so I could roll my windows down faster.

OUch i bet that was expensive.. I just bought the switches with bezels($40 on ebay) and both door wiring harnesses ($255 at the dealer) , power mirrors ($250 off a salvaged truck) and got the A1 Electric power window regulators (direct replacement) and their power locks w/ keyless..so i just adapted the ford wiring to those aftermarket parts. I think to get them to work you'll also need a CSM from a power equipped ranger, but other than that, if you got EVERYTHING, it'll just "plug in together". Good luck!

I'm about to try this swap soon as well. I hate wiring, so I'll have some buddies come over and help me.

Good luck!

I have an inline fuse on my self-installed power windows.

I started this project thinking it would be simple, I was wrong! On top of the fuse box not having power in the #4 slot the harness plugs under the dash are short all of the wires except 4, so I need to add 10!!!

Does anybody have a color wiring schematic they can share OR any leads as to a recommended seller on eBay?

I will do a write up so stay tuned.
