changing the flasher

OK, I am an idiot!! I have bought a pair of 3157 led bulbs for my 03 ranger and I bought the led flasher. thought changing the flasher would be as easy as changing a fuse. followed the sound of the flasher to a black box under the dash to the right of the steering column. seems to have a cover held on by two clips but the top clip is incredibly hard to reach.

am I missing something? would have thought this would be easier to get to. am I approaching this all wrong? is there some trick to getting to the flasher unit?

have searched this site and seems like others just did it no problem
any insight would be appreciated

well that black box was it and after much wrestling got the cover off and replaced the flasher. I can't believe Ford has made this so hard to get to!! I remember how the flasher used to be right on the fuse box easy to find and change. glad I don't do this often!! my chiropractor would be seeing more of me.

thought it was a cleaner fix using an led flasher rather than splicing in a resistor.

Glad you found out how to do it. Never had to do mine yet. Yeah the older flashers were great, pull it out of the fuse box and put a new one in. Piece of cake.
