Vibration at 60-65mph
Been having a funky vibration (groovy, i know) for a few days now, and i re balanced my tires and check my alignment and those are all in check, my lower ball joints are about 2 months old, all the other junk looks like its alrite, i regreased it all today, but still no avail. its a little bit in the steering wheel, but i feel it more at the feet. any idears?

dont know if you wuld have checked the tire pressure or not? my 33s get a little shakey if they arn't topped up.

yea, when i balanced them i checked it. I can usually tell when they're low.

On my 95 I had the same thing and found my radius arm bushings were bad.

I have the same thing. It's been driving me nuts. Everything seems to check out. The truck feels nice and tight. Tires are good, tried different pressures on it (30, 35, 40) and none of them made a difference. U-joints and CV joints all check out, too. The same thing happened on my Escape at about 40k miles. Drove me insane. The dealer first tried to tell me I didn't rotate the tires enough, which was a load of crap, then I brought it in after putting 18s on it, and they tried to blame the oversize wheels. I told him he was a f%$king moron and never brought my vehicles there again. I would love to figure out this problem on the Ranger without having to replace everything. |
mine does this too but at lower speeds between 40 and 43 or so. but im 100 percent positive its my knobby grooved tires
|
I've got it up in the air now and i've taken it apart to the knuckles. but so far nothing has seemed out of the ordinary. ill put it back together and let you guys know if i somehow fixed it later after i drive it.

Have you driven thru deep snow lately? I know its kinda redundant given where you live, but I will get snow that will get stuck in one of the wheels and that will cause a vibration anywhere between 20 and 60 mph, depending of course on how much snow is stuck and where its at on the wheel.
|
My truck used to do that when i had firestone tires on it.

Mine does this too. I have 33" aggressive ATZ tires. Also, my swaybar is off. I dunno man. Could be the wide tire with a rugged tread IMO. |
yeah tires have a ton to do with the ride quality. it could be something as stupid as a damaged treading that is causing it.
