Vibration in steering wheel

Right around the time I put my Superlift on (somewhere in early March) I had a vibration that seems to be most noticeable in the steering wheel. The vibration isn't always there though, it comes and goes.
I first thought it was the 31's and steelies that I had on it right after I lifted it, but I got my 33's and Nomads and it was still there. Then I thought it might be my new front driveshaft, so I took it out and drove it and the vibration is still there.
After that, I discovered the rear bracket on my diff was broken, so we welded that up but the vibration is STILL there!
I'm running out of ideas, I'm going to rotate these tires again probably this weekend to see if it changes at all.

I've had two different sets of tires and two different sets of wheels, both balanced and it's always done it.

I thought of that at first too, but it only does it sometimes and I don't feel any vibrations on the pedal when braking.

Any other ideas?

-spilly 05-27-2010 08:29 PM

is it possible you may have worn out tie rod ends?

rangrdangr_4x4 05-27-2010 08:35 PM

My trucks does the exact same thing, the vibration only occurs on certain roads..
I just rotated mine yesterday and the vibration is the same

i was gonna guess rotors too.

Ace 05-29-2010 11:53 PM

Yep sounds like rotors

FULLSCALE 05-30-2010 06:34 AM

Even if it doesn't do it all the time and I don't feel any vibrations in the pedal while braking?

Ace 05-30-2010 08:37 AM

Well if itss not that then idk lol

i'd say you did. i have a very slight vibration that comes and goes, i think it might be the same thing. i need to replace all the wear items in the front suspension sometime soon on mine.

Ford04Ranger4.0 05-30-2010 07:52 PM

wheel bearing or tie rod?

FULLSCALE 05-30-2010 07:55 PM

Wheel bearing.

ike34 05-30-2010 11:15 PM

I did some checking on the front of my truck too and thats what I found on mine, my front wheel bearings had some movement.

BTW what kind of jackstand is that? Ive never seen one of those before, with a jack and jack stand together.

FULLSCALE 05-30-2010 11:49 PM

I'd have to check, I don't remember the name of them. I got them at Costco a couple years ago for about $10 each. I should have got 2 more though, now everywhere I see them they're $40 each! They work great!

Alex98 05-31-2010 12:00 PM

my truck shakes like that to but my bearings have been replaced, my guess it would be the ball joints but when i jack it up and try to wiggle the wheels it doesnt do anything would the best way to test it be to unbolt the tie rod?
