Viper Autostart not working

I've had my viper 5901 for a while and it has worked fine. It was installed at Best Buy. The obvious thing is to go back there and have them fix it which I may well end up doing.

But recently it hasn't been wanting to start. It will start the engine, then it will run for a few seconds and shut off. it will start it three times and it shuts off each time, then it reports an error. Any ideas for a simple fix? or what may be causing this? Its really bugging me.

What is the error?

It just says autostart error on the fob. Is there some way to get an error code?

if there is an error, the vehicle parking lights will flash, count the number of times it flashes and there is an error table.

it sounds like a common thing with these, if they used virtual tach instead of actually hard wiring the tach signal wire then that might be why. virtual tach isn't "bad" persay, but it's not refined enough yet imo. I'd just go in there and ask if they wired the tach wire or used virtual tach. if they used virtual tach, tell them you rather have the tach wire connected instead.

that would certainly seem to make sense, i feel like it idles lower and lower then shuts off. so i can see it being relatad and I can see them taking the short way out.

and my parking lights dont flash. they told me the output was bad (i never tested it myself though), and since I bought it on ebay i had to exchange it with the seller, and I decided it wasn't worth it. soo... i dunno. i really want to rip it all out and have them install a new one from their store so everything has to work right. since I bought it on ebay some of the blame falls on me.

a remote start has nothing to do with your vehicle idling, the tach signal is only used to turn off the starter when remote starting

i realize this, i just thought perhaps it shut off as a result of a perceived drop in rpms. or something. but i guess that's kind of a silly notion as well.

however i tried it tonight and had no issues. maybe it's a short term problem. and is gone.

as i was saying before... the virtual tach works good sometimes, and doesn't other times.. temperature plays a toll, but normally it just has a mind of it's own. have them wire the tach wire instead of virtual tach
