Weird Noise When Stopping
Hi All, I have a 2009 Ford Ranger 3.0Tdci 4x2
Bit of a weird one as I cant even find a solution on google.
So When I hit the brakes to slow down all goes well no noise no vibration at all, but about 1m before I come to a complete stop the brake pedal has a violent vibration as if a gear is grinding but in the brake pedal. After the Grinding noise there is a wierd Whining noise that comes from the Engine bay for about a second or two.
This only started happeing when it was raining and the roads are wet, as soon as the bakkie is dry it stopped.
NOW it happens everytime I hit the brakes but once again only the last 1m before I come to a complete stop.
This morning I noticed that If I turn the wheel at low speeds I alos get the same whining noise as with braking.
I dont have money to replace everyhting the mechanic tells me he THINKS the problem is.
So far I have been told the following,
1. One of my Calipers might stick ( this doesnt explain the whining noise when turning)
2. My Rear Brakes needs to be done
3. Handbrake Cable binding
4. All my Belts in the front needs to be replaced (this was done and did not solve the problem)
Any help Please
Regards
John Smith

Welcome to the forum
Automatic or manual?
Could it be torque converter not releasing fully?
If Automatic shift to neutral first then do the braking and see if you still have the same noise/vibration

Thanks for the Reply, I found another thread and looks like I have a bad ABS sensor, Pulled the ABS Servo fuse to test and its gone now, I did notice my ABS Sensor kept going on now and again after they changed my wheelbearing So ill start there.
