Any way to disable drivers air bag?

Reason I am asking. My fiance is 5" and has to sit extremely close to the steering wheel. To the point that if she was in a wreck she would end up hurt worse if the air bag went off. I am looking at getting her a little ranger. going to aim for one without an air bag, but if I find a good deal on a newer one i'll get it. Just wondering if there is a way to disable it?

If you don't have at least a foot between her and the wheel, your right she will be hurt.

Can she see over the wheel? I know that is illegal in this state.

Ideally putting blocks on the pedals and keeping the bags on. Otherwise you will need to pull the fuse for the bags. Which will get you an air bag light on and maybe ding.

FYI, disabling a safety device is probably illegal. Unless your off road.

She has maybe 6-8" between her and the wheel. I was thinking maybe some kind of toggle switch. That way if someone else drives it, it can be on. If she drives it then it can be turned off for that time. She can see over fine. It's just she doesn't have long legs. Thats what mostly causes her to sit so close.

Why not just not have her drive your truck? Seems like a lot of work and potentially a dangerous situation. What would happen if you got in a bad enough wreck for the airbags to deploy and they didn't?

If your switch was on the power wire for the system it would need to be flipped prior to starting.

Pull the fuse if she drives this most of the time. She will need blocks in almost any car. They are designed for 5'2" though 5'8". Keep in mind that rangers 95 and newer are all nearly identical inside. I would not make my woman drive a car 15+ years old to get one with out air bags.

Shop around a car will fit her better than a truck meant for guys. Maybe an f150 with the movable pedals.
