OBDII port not working.

I've figured out the problem is a blown fuse on slot #29 which is for the cigar lighter/OBDII port on my 04 but I have no clue what is causing the blown fuse. It continues to blow them, I haven't messed with any of the wires concerning those things so I don't know what it is. I think its the cigar lighter on the left side of the bezel, my one on the right side works fine. Any ideas would be appreciated.

They're not I would have noticed that. This explains why I had trouble pulling a code at Autozone last month.

Try pulling the leads off both cig lighters and putting a new fuse in. Then if it doesn't blow, plug in the one you know is working correctly (right one)... wait and see if it blows, then plug in the left one, if it blows, you know it's the left cig lighter and go out and get a new one. don't even try fixing it.. junk yard might be like $0.50.

Try that first and see what that does man

The left hand lighter has been unplugged since I got the truck and the right hand one is working fine with the fuse out so I don't even think its in the same circuit.

Did you mess up some wiring somewhere with your body lift?

I don't think so but you can never be sure, when I get a chance I'm going to go over everything, I don't have a place to tear it apart anymore so I don't know when I can do it.

The body lift could have also messed up the hood to latch alignment, causing your hood release not to work.....

Except I've had that problem for 6 months before I installed the body lift.

Your left cig lighter is on the same circuit as the OBD II plug. The right is on its on fused circuit. Check the diagnostic plug for corrosion or touching wires. The fact that the cig lighter has been unplugged since you got the truck seems to lead me to believe that is the problem. There could also be a wire that rubbed through and is shorting to ground. The fact that the fuse blows right a way usually would be short to ground. A meter is your best friend in diagnosing these things. Check voltages and resistance.I hope that helps.

Well I don't have a meter or know anyone that does up here. The outlet hasn't worked since I had the truck so I think this might have been a problem since before I got the truck. This just sucks.

Unfortunately, there are only two possibilities here.

1- The accessory plug is messed up. Unplugging it from behind the dash trim would isolate that.

2- There is a problem elsewhere in the wiring which would probably be impossible to find.

Best thing to do would be find out which pin on the OBD-II port is the power and run a new wire.

That is a fantastic idea, I never even thought of that. The accessory plug has been unplugged since I got the truck.

Ok just for my reference for later the power for the connector is 12v all the time at Pin 16, OG

I had the same blown fuse/can't read codes issue earlier this month.

On my cig lighter the wire that I thought should be ground (the one with the uninsulated blade style connector) was actually +12V and was touching the side of the radio and blowing the fuse.

I bet I'm having the same issue, or something close to it. I just gotta check it out, I might make the hike to the truck and do that tomorrow.

HAHA...TRENT, im having the same exact problem, except you bastards didnt comment on my post....anyways im gonna try this to (disconnecting both cig lighters and putting in new fuses)...The guy at autozone couldnt get a connection with his OBD2 reader...so, i might also need to find out the lead power wire on my port and make a new one, if the other stuff dont work..

My fuse is #17 slot, cig lighter and DLC

The accessory port on the left is the only one you need to worry about. The lighter plug on the right is on a different circuit.
