Wiring diagram help!
2 Attachment(s)
I have a 2002 ranger and was looking for a wiring diagram of the braking system. I have the chiton's manual for my year truck and the diagram they have is incorrect.
My high stop light works, but the two rear ones do not. The blinker and running lights work though. The reason i know this diagram is wrong is because the blinker and running lights operate on separate filaments of the bulb, which is not the case in the diagram. the colors don't all seem right either. anyone know why my ranger is different? also two of the 5 wires running from the brake switch are higher guage then the rest. anyone know why, are these the ones for the brakelights? Time for some ALLDATA!

The diagram is actually correct. You are just interpreting it wrong (yes, the book is female).
See how the diagram shows two squiggly lines in each bulb? That is indicating the two different filaments. Also see how they both go to one ground. It is showing the light green wire going to one filament in each bulb and the brown wire going to the other filament in each bulb (running lights). Then each light has one ground. As for why they aren't working, something has to be disconnected somewhere. |
Ok these may be a little clearer. I use ALLDATA for my diagrams.

thanks. im going to check the multifunction switch, but does anyone know about the central junction box? is this up in the front of the truck still or somewhere near the rear?

got it! Turns out the wire going to the multiswitch from the brake switch was loose. Wow and the people with the truck before me payed some mechanic more than 500 bucks to try to fix it. he must have just replaced the components without checking the connections between them... well that was easy once i got the right diagram

I'm glad those diagrams could do you some good. I like them because they explain certain connections/switches.
