The engine/transmission harness is completely different and you would need to swap it over with the donor engine. You will also need the donor's PCM and a compatible transmission.

The big differences are in the PATS, ABS, speedometer and charging system wiring. You will need to move several wires. Best bet is to get a Ford factory Wiring Diagram manual for each vehicle and start comparing. I get mine from "Lorie and Jeff" on eBay.

Aye, Bob steered me also to Lorie and Jeff a few months ago. Great prices and fast shipping! Those manuals are great!
Thanks Bob!

hmmm. dragging my thread up. what about an older explorer (99ish?) from when they started using the sohc? would the PCM be different there?
