Wiring up Fog Lights

Hello all,

I have a quick question for you all.

I have an 08 XL 2wd Ranger with the black lower valcne and i am wanting to put fog lights into the hole where they go on the valance.

My question is, is there any company outside ford that makes these to go inside the hole and the wiring can it be wired into the existing wireing harness or would i need to run a switch inside the cab?

Would rather they come on with the low beam and running lights and off with the high beams.

Thanks.

Hmm, do you have a square or round area on your valance where the fogs would go?

He has round. They would work but look kind of funny because the light would be smaller than the hole. I know PIAA makes a 4" light, that might be a better fit.

Hmmmmm if i used PIAA wouldnt i have to make a bracket and the like i was thinking along the lines of as close to factory as possible.

Any one know how much they are for PIAA 4" lights and do they come with a wiring kit?

I have an '08 XLT valance/bumper with fog lights that I am trying to get rid of... I would trade you straight up for your XL valance/bumper if you want.

might be expensive to ship, but IMO would be your best bet. its white too.

Most anything you use will need to have a custom bracket of some kind made, unless you just buy a set of stock fog lights from ford.

Or are these the ones that i should use it looks like they mount throught the bottom so i suppose i could drill a hole in the exisiting bumper and run the wires that way.

I have a 2008 XLT with the grilles in the bumper (no fog light option). They can be removed and replaced with the fog lights sold by Tasca Ford. I bought mine on
Ebay,
Link: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/NEW-R...0182QQtcZphoto

Tasca sells the replacement headlight switch with the pull out feature for the fog light if you want to go that route. Tasca may be cheaper than other Ford dealers maybe. I'll probably just wire mine to a relay and separate switch.

First I ordered a set of Chinese Depo brand fog lights but they were the wrong style and after searching the Depo web site, I could not find any that fit so I just ordered them from Tasca.

I found a pig tail wiring kit at O'Reilley Auto parts that fit the Sylvania bulbs that came with the Ford fog lights. The bulbs are 9145 and the pigtail says it fits 9005, but they are the same connector.

I say keep those, they look sweet! Now you have something that no other stock Ranger does too. I would see wire it up like stock though.

Wire it up using the PIAA kit but for the switch use the factory headlight switch with the pull out fogs.

The one thing i couldnt figure out is how to wire the switch into the low beams of the truck so that they would go off with the high beams and come back on when i switch back to the low beams any ideas or help.

Those look great. Did you wire them into your stock headlight switch?

I've always wondered how to do that.
