brand new running boards for 2007 later 4X4 or Ranger Sport

Hey guys,

I have a set of 2008 running boards for an extended-cab Sport or 4X4. These things are in mint condition(As you can see in the pictures) because the person that I bought them from removed them from his brand new Ranger right after he drove it off the lot and he stored them in his garage.
I bought them for my 2004 Ranger XLT 2X4 Extended-cab and unfortunatly they won't bolt up. If I knew how to weld and fabricate I could make these work on my truck.
(My loss is your gain) I'll let these go for $125.00 plus shipping. (Zip Code 40229)
If you live within a 50 mile radius of me I can deliever them or meet you half way.

Thanks for looking,

Brian

P.S. These would probably fit the 04 and up Models but I know your truck has to be a 4X4 or Sport.

Does anybody know if what changes were made to the 2008 Ranger frame? I'm so frustrated that these running boards won't fit my 2004.

is your truck a 4 door or not? the extended cab 4 door step bars won't work on a 2 door extended cab truck and vice versa

My truck is a 4 door extended cab ... I bet their 2008 Ranger Sport is a 2 door extended cab!
What would be the difference in the brackets?

Can anyone tell me from looking at my pictures if these running boards came off of a 2-door extended cab?

I think you have a set of 2 door bars, but you're missing one part of the rear mounts. Check out the pics of my 2 door bars.

Those aren't for a 4-door.

Thanks guys for removing that 1% of dobt ... I was 99% sure I got the 2- door running boards.
Now I'm 100% sure.
KLC's front brackets are totally different.
Hey KLC ... Would you be willing to sell those front mounts or did you already get rid of them?

The mounts are made on the step bars. I already sold mine though, sorry.

Hey KLC,
That's no big deal that you've already sold them ... I though you did anyway.
The brackets that I have on my bars are actually bolted on.
Thanks for the pics Ranger_Envy.
It looks to me like the person that sold me the running boards left the two mounting brackets that go on the cab.
Tell me if I'm wrong, but it looks to me like the bigger brackets (the ones with the flats on them) go in the front close to the tires and the smaller brackets bolt up to the cab.

Yes the bracket that is bent horizontal goes to the front and bolts up to a bracket in the subframe of the cab (I bet you're missing it). Its just a little bar with 2 bolts that you fish up into a hole on the subframe of the cab and bolt the bar to.

Yeah, now I get it ... I had them turned around backwards.
If I can get the cab brackets from that guy will it be possible to put them on my truck, or am I missing the holes in the cab? I understand why the 4-door extended cab running board brackets are different in the back. (To support the weight of people exiting the back) but why couldn't Ford just make them all the same? I guess that would have been to easy.

There is a separate bar for the front that has studs on it to mount the bar. However, the mount on the bar isn't like the bars you have pictured. The mount shown on the bars in my picture is one piece.

I doubt they'll work. The rear brackets might be interchangable from the earlier style bars. I always find wrecked Rangers at salvage yards with crushed bars. Maybe you can get lucky and find good rear mounts.

I think it'll be best just to sell these running boards and start looking for some that are for a 4-door extended cab. It sounds like way too much trouble to make these work for my truck and I'll make sure they give me the rear mounts next time time ... lol

BTW ... If anybody wants these running boards I'll ship them for free within a 500 mile radius of me.
They would be perfect replacements for a 2 door extended cab.
