How was it modded and why does part of it look to be sanded on?

KLC.... Do those take an o-ring?? I've never really seen the back side of those before. Just curious.

GB... What I believe him to have is an Explorer IRS diff cover. Stock they come with "ears" on the sides that are part of the axle structure. To make work for a Ranger, those ears are cut off and sanded smooth. Search is your friend. lol. And from what I've seen in the past, this one KLC has for sale is by far the cleanest finish I've ever seen done on these covers.

Good luck on the sale.

It is an IRS Explorer cover so they have to be modified to fit a Ranger. An Explorer cover has "ears", which aren't needed when used on a Ranger 8.8. You can see where the "ears" have been cut off and ground smooth. Shane is correct, and gave a more detailed response.

Thanks, and no it is just a recessed area to guarantee the silicone makes a good seal. I've never seen one with an o-ring.

That looks different than my 03 one.

Is that an updated version. Like 05+?

My drain plug is a one inch socket size.

It's not a junkyard part, it's brand new. I paid $140 for it.

So is that one ready to bolt up or does it still need the modding down to it?
