dan, why do you want to go with the base model? imo, the bare plastic looks cheap and unfinished... go with the painted one, like what was on my truck, and just have it painted black... the clearcoat finish looks much more professional than the bare, textured plastic, imo fwiw

IMO you need to keep the chrome. black on black IMO isnt nice looking. black and chrome go way better.

im hoping to have everything blacked out shortly i already nightshaded my third brake light really dark and doing my taillights just lightly dont wana get rear ended and getting blacked out(on the inside of the cover) headlights. then the badges and rims will still be chrome to set it off . i was going to get my grille painted was told it would be cheaper to get the base model grille and get it painted.

bass model grill is an "unpaintable" plastic, you have to sand and prime, and sand and prime and base and sand and clear or you can get the colour keyed, which comes (depending on where you get it) as a dark dark grey (almost black) base/primer, and all it needs is a clear, or some other base, just spray it black and clear it... done and done...

basically, what it would boil down to, why take something that is not ment for paint, and paint it when you can get one (for probably roughly the same price) that is already preped and primed
