I am looking for the OEM Color Code for the Silver Color used in the 03 FX4 LvL II Ranger Radio Bezel.

I was told yesterday by a Auto Paint Shop that the code is on the door post area.
I looked at mine to determine what code it is but I do not know (mine is black anyway) but thought I could get an idea.

Anyone that has an '03 Ranger FX4 LvL II with an OEM Silver Radio Bezel that came with the truck, pls post any/all interior paint codes you have on the door jam ?

I will sort them out with the Auto Paint Shop Guy and get the color made up in rattle cans or maybe even get a SEMs Color that is a match.
The cost is a lot but if it is the OEM color I am hoping it is worth it.

the code on the door is for the dash, door panels, and headliner, not the bezel (unless you really dig and find out what ford specifically put into that truck). mine is the same color as the level silver one from the factory but black is better.

 

The interior trim code is LB: L for "Stockton cloth sport buckets", B for the predominant black color "Ebony". There is no code on the Cert label for the silver bezel color.

I also went through the build sheet for my VIN and it is not specified there either.

A few years ago, my local dealer tried to research the color with no luck. I ended up using a generic silver/gray which has since been changed to satin black.

The Auto Paint Shop I went to is a really good one, they will take their time to help you find the RIGHT color but I spent over an hour yesterday with them and nothing.
They asked for the Interior Color Code and I was hoping it would work out.

I've searched hardcore for it before. The code is not to be found apparently. BUT.... RF member Mikerider modded his bezel up and painted it in a very very similar color to the factory silver bezel.

Linked below is his thread where he showed off his bezel. It may be in a different coat since the pics, but when I saw it in person about a month ago, the match is darn close to matching the '03 XLT gauge cluster and the silver Explorer HVAC control panel. Closest I've ever seen in person....and I've seen tons of silvers painted on the bezels before locally. I know I've asked him before and he's answered before, but I can't remember what he used for his bezel paint. lol. I've shot him a PM about this thread...

Added: Shane it has been two years since he painted his Bezel.
I hope he remembers the color for sure.
He said it was a Duplicolor called, Cast Metal Ground... will see.
I will go to the Auto,Paint Store and see what they have.

Went to the Auto Parts Store… picked up some paint, two different approaches, one as Shane has suggested from a friend and Dupli-Color has a new series of paint in a can, interior stuff; supposedly… closer to OEM Coloring.
I got two cans of the Silver Interior Paint and will post my results.

I have an extra center bezel, it will become the test bed, one half one way the other half the other way.

One way or another this week will decide which silver is closest "to my idea" of the FX4 Silver Color.

The Dupli-Color Ford Interior Trim Paint is a little brighter that I thought is needs to be.
Will see what it looks like on a center bezel, dried with some clear on it.

Well I tried the method from mikerider and did not like the way it turned out, just me and the method. From what

I also had purchased a couple of cans of the newer Dupli-Color "Color Match Paint", rattle cans, a Ford Interior Color named “Silver Charcoal Metallic" and of course the price per can went up.
This paint is suppose to match the factory colors better, so there is a sucker in every batch so I fell for it and tried it out.

Sprayed on the Filler Primer, then a couple of good coats of the Silver, sanded with 220 grit paper, sprayed another coat and sanded with 400 grit wet paper, sprayed another coat because I went through at one point and will sand with Wet Paper 400 grit again and then some clear.
Maybe two good coats and sanding in between each coat.

That’s the method, so far all I need to do is the clear and the color before wet sanding is really good, definitely silver but a little darker than bright silver, should work out OK but until the clear is on I will not know absolute.

If this color is what I want, “Silver Charcoal Metallic”, the next part to get the paint is the Gauge Cluster Surround area of the dash, it is part of the larger panel and then on to what I hope will be the Switch Panel of the Doors but not the top area just the sides.

 

Wet sanded the silver Charcoal Metallic and then sprayed it with clear… too shiny, I used an old can of Semi-Gloss Clear, not sure why it cam out so shiny.

Wet sanded again, sprayed silver, three light coats, waiting for it to dry some and will give it another round of paint.

May leave it without any clear.

 

Here is a couple of pics of what I did on the new Radio Bezel, color is as mentioned above Silver Charcoal Metallic and I will not be able to get pic inside of the vehicle until a get rid of my 4x4 sw so, “it will come” !

I can’t tell if it is the FX4 Silver, won’t know until it is in the vehicle or I can get a better picture, with better lighting. I do like the color so I may try the next piece the Dash Gauge Surround.

 

Looks good man. It looks odd not seeing any switches, but looks real clean too.
